My father was Toon Kramer, Antonius Christoffel Josephus Kramer, the eldest son of Hermanus Kramer and Maria Cornelia Rutte. Hermanus was a brother of Maria Christina Kramer, who married Karel Thier. Their daughter Christina was therefore a cousin of my father.

My father arrived in Tilburg in December 1942 for a week of army training, at that time he joined the British army from the resistance in the Peel. His parents in Dordrecht ordered him, while he was in Tilburg, to visit his aunt and uncle (Maria Kramer and Karel Thier) in Eindhoven, who had just lost their daughter in the so-called Sinterklaas bombardment by the RAF.

They told my father that everyone had already left the house, when Christina went back to quickly get the cat out of the house, which resulted in her death.
